MOST LIKELY YES!
I get asked this question a lot and every time I ask the question: "Do you have an online presence for a business, community or cause?" If your answer is yes, then YES you do need personal brand photography!
Why? Because your audience wants to connect with you on a personal level and we can help accomplish this through photography. My story session system walks us through different processes that you do throughout your business or in your personal life. These fine details of your life allow others to connect with you because they most likely do something similar, or they want to learn more about what you're doing.
For some, their stories may be working with a client and taking photos of the experience that your clients will have with you. Or your stories might be what you do during your morning routine, daily workout, or your meal prepping day. Stories will vary widely depending on your business, community, or cause.
What is the difference between having your headshots taken and a branding shoot? Well, you're going to need more than a few glamour headshots to connect with your audience. With a branding shoot, you will be getting headshots, photos of you in action, and unique detailed stock like photos of your surroundings. This will give you a cache of images to pull from to build or refresh your website or keep your social media posts relevant and will help you connect on a deeper level with your ideal client. Kiss away the days of stressing about finding a boring and generic stock image to pair with your highly cultivated content.
FIRST IMPRESSION
What is the first thing that you do when you hear of a new business (or person)? You go straight to their social media, website, or let's be real - anywhere google will take you. So where do you get your first impression? Yep, you had better believe that your first impression of a business will come from that first you find. If you make a connection with that business you can't get enough. You like all of their social media profiles and possibly check out their website to really learn about their services.
People form a first impression in just 50 milliseconds! That is quicker than a blink of an eye! Is your online presence presented well enough, that when potential clients view your business they are mostly convinced without even knowing your product or services? Good, quality, professional, and consistent brand photography will help capture potential clients quickly.
CONSISTENCY
Most people think that a brand is only your logo and colors. I cringe when I hear this because your logo and brand colors are only key components of your brand, not your entire brand. Your brand is SO much more! The trouble is if your photography doesn't match the style and colors of your brand, well you my friend are in a bit of trouble. All of your visual components must work together to create a consistent brand. The goal of your brand is for someone to see something from you, such as a graphic, and they instantly say, "That is ______(your business)! I love them." Your audience should be able to say that about anything posted on your social media platforms, advertisements, marketing materials, and website. For example, if you scroll through your Instagram feed and see that there is a cohesive bright, warm, and pink tone to your feed, but then go to your website to find dark and heavy images. Your audience will be confused. This not only discredits your brand but may turn them away as they expect their experience to be consistent across all channels when interacting with your brand.
RELATABLE
Brand photos make your brand more relatable and create a deeper connection with your audience. People want to connect with other people, relate to others, and see the face behind your business. This doesn't mean that every image on your website and social media need to be only of you. But allowing your audience to get to know your face, who you are, and getting a glimpse of your client experience will help them envision themselves using your product or receiving your services.
So, do you have an online presence? Are you the leader of a business, community, or cause? Brand photography can change the way you view (literally and figuratively) your brand.
